In the Arms of Abba

In this season of my life, I find myself seeing God as Abba Father—my Daddy. Like a little girl, I’m learning to simply rest in His arms. I feel safe there. Protected. Loved. There is no striving or pretending—just peace. I know that in the arms of my Abba Father, I don’t have to worry. He’s holding me close enough that I can hear His voice—guiding me, protecting me, and reminding me when to slow down, when to run free, and when to stop.

You’re never too old to crawl into your Father’s arms. It’s a childlike trust—one I’ve come to treasure. I want to stay close. I want to remain that little girl who runs to her Father when she’s hurting, knowing He will make it all better. Because He always does. And the older I get, the more I realize: I don’t outgrow His lap—I grow stronger in it.

“The Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’”—Romans 8:15 (NIV)

Maybe that kind of love is something you didn’t have growing up. Maybe you didn’t have a father who was safe, protective, or present. If that’s you, I see you—and more importantly, God sees you. Because the truth is… Maybe you didn’t have a dad. But you’ve always had a Father. The beauty of our God is that He offers what we’ve missed. He is not a distant Father. He is near. He is attentive. He is gentle. And He is waiting for you—arms wide open.

There’s a lap waiting for you—arms wide open. His name is Abba. You don’t have to be perfect. You don’t have to clean yourself up before running to Him. You just have to go. Like a child who knows they are loved, you simply show up. And there He is, welcoming you with love and joy.

"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!”—1 John 3:1 (NIV)

We all need that place of safety. That person we can collapse into when life gets heavy. That voice that tells us it’s going to be okay. Abba is that and more. He sees you. He knows what you didn’t get. And He’s offering it now. Abba fills the gaps your childhood left empty.

Let today be the day you stop running from Him and start running to Him. Crawl into His lap. Lay your head on His chest. Let His arms wrap around you. Listen to His voice—the voice of a Father who loves you completely. Because you are, and will always be, Abba’s child. His arms are your home. I’m not just a woman—I’m Abba’s little girl.

Prayer

Abba Father, thank You for loving me so deeply. Thank You for being my safe place, my protector, my comforter. Help me to come to You like a child—trusting, honest, and full of wonder. Heal the places in me that still ache for a father’s love. Remind me that You are always near and that Your arms are always open. I never want to outgrow being Your little girl. Hold me close today and every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
