Feeling stuck, hopeless, lost, and discouraged with no sense of what the future holds. For some time, I felt stuck. Stuck in my relationship with God and in life. My vision for this website wasn’t fully coming to fulfillment, and for some time now, I have had a new vision, dream, idea, or however you want to call it, stirred up in my heart. But feeling stuck in the “what’s next?”, “how do I start?”, “I’m not capable of it,” and all these other thoughts or excuses come up. So I just leave it as it is, without doing anything about it. All the ideas, desires, and potential just stay that—they stay as ideas, desires, and potentials. Making me feel stuck. But then I read Isaiah 41, a chapter with a message of comfort and hope. Although I am not being exiled by a nation like the Israelites were at this time, I needed these words and encouragement. If you have ever felt like God has forgotten you, or that your circumstances are beyond hope—my prayer is that as you read this, you are also reminded and encouraged by His promises and words.
“I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners, I called you. I said, ‘You are my servant’; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my right hand.” (Isaiah 41:9-10)
In moments of struggle, it’s easy to feel like we’ve been abandoned or forgotten, but Isaiah 41 reminds us that God is always with us. His promises to strengthen, help, and uphold us are unwavering, even in our darkest hours. No matter what challenges you face today, you are not alone. Trust that the same God who controlled the rise and fall of nations is holding you in His hand and will bring you through. It is God who has called you—not man. And it is with Him, because of Him, and for Him that you will fulfill His calling over your life. Do not worry or stress about the little details of how or when. Take the step of faith and say yes because it is He who called you, because it is He who will be with you, and because it is for Him that you are doing it. “So that people may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the Lord has done this, that the Holy One of Israel has created it.” (Isaiah 41:20)
Application: As you go through the week, whenever you feel discouraged or uncertain, remind yourself of God’s promise in Isaiah 41:10. You might want to write it down on a card and keep it with you as a reminder that God is always with you.
Prayer: Thank you, God, for always speaking to us when we need it most. In those moments I feel alone, abandoned, or stuck, remind me of Isaiah 41. You have called me, You are with me, and You will uphold me. In Jesus' name, amen.
